Hamilton, MA -- Exponent Technology Services has unveiled its SkyCommander at the UTM Convention 2016. Completely encapsulated and independent of any requirement to be electronically coupled with the UAV, Exponent's SkyCommander provides near real-time situational awareness of UAV operations via a secured cloud based internet platform and existing cellular networks.

Coupled with Exponent's UAS Portal, users can now configure flights, manage UAS, and monitor flight times, whilst also tracking live flights via the SkyCommander. UAS managers can set up instantaneous SMS alerts that warn operators and regulators when operational parameters are being breached, including perimeter, altitude, weather, checklists, pilot proficiency and currency.

Currently, UAV operators face considerable challenges in complying with regulatory ordinances and standards regarding UAV operations.  The current lack of technology to track independent UAV flight data, and the ability to link this to specific regulator issued approvals, makes compliance a highly non-transparent area.
